Expert piano tuning, repair and restoration in Edinburgh and the Lothians

I’m John, a piano tuner and technician offering a personal, professional service across Edinburgh, the Lothians, and beyond.

Whether your piano is played every day or hasn’t been tuned in a while, I work carefully with each instrument to bring it back to its best condition and help maintain it over time.

Piano tuning

Regular tuning keeps your piano sounding its best and enjoyable to play. Most pianos benefit from tuning once or twice a year.

If your piano hasn’t been tuned in a few years and is starting to fall out of tune, I can bring it back up to pitch.

Service

If your piano doesn’t feel or sound quite right, it may benefit from a service rather than a straightforward tuning.

Over time, pianos can develop issues. A service helps identify and correct these small problems so the instrument plays more comfortably and reliably.

Refurbishment

The difference between something good and something great often lies in attention to detail.

I carry out careful refurbishment work on pianos, improving both the appearance and feel of the instrument through work such as action overhaul and surface repair.

Maintenance

Changes in humidity and modern heating systems will have a negative effect on your piano over time. In some cases, you (or your neighbours) may also notice the sound carrying more than you’d like.

I can suggest practical ways to manage both the condition of the instrument and its sound.
